Avocado oil is used for the care of dry, chapped and barrier-damaged skin as well as for hair care. Its high content of palmitoleic acid makes it well tolerated by sensitive skin.
Native avocado oil: high content of non-volatile components, including barrier-supporting phytosterols (mainly beta sitosterol), phospholipids (lecithin) and fat-soluble vitamins A, E and D.
Lower tocopherol content, but mainly the skin- and tissue-active alpha-tocopherol.
Refined avocado oil: is lower in vitamin and phytosterol content, but still has a very interesting distribution of fatty acids. Good spreadability.
Avocado oil has a very high smoke point and is therefore particularly suitable for formulations that are to be heated to higher temperatures. Due to its lubricating effect, avocado oil is said to "accompany" the active ingredients of an oil blend or emulsion into the skin and thus increase the efficacy of a skin care product. In emulsions, avocado oil acts as a slight consistency modifier.
