The German food and consumer goods industry has honoured Erwin Müller, the founder of the drugstore chain of the same name, with the ‘Goldener Zuckerhut’ (Golden Sugarloaf Hat) for his life's work. The award honours his outstanding entrepreneurial achievements and his formative influence on the retail sector. Christoph Werner, head of the competing drugstore chain dm, emphasised that without the department stores of the pioneer Müller, many city centres would look different today.
