Labels Made Of Hemp Introduced

The Crop Offers Many Ecological Benefits For Papermaking

Etiket Schiller has expanded its portfolio with labels made from hemp paper. According to the manufacturer, they consist of 100 percent pure European hemp fibres. They are intended to represent an alternative to conventional paper labels made from wood fibres. The plants reportedly are grown in southern Europe and are harvested three times a year due to their rapid growth. Because of its naturally light colour, hardly any bleach is needed in the papermaking process, the company says. With its long fibres, hemp is also said to make the paper tensile, tear-resistant and wet-resistant, and thus easily recyclable. Further information …
