Ashland introduces Collapeptyl, a new biofunctional product for the skin
US-based Ashland Group has launched Collapeptyl, a skin care ingredient and biofunctional innovation in collagen science. Collapeptyl is based on patent-pending hyaluronic hybrid peptide technology and is 99.7 percent natural in origin. The vegan, PFAS-free active ingredient was developed using artificial intelligence to achieve an ideal interaction between hyaluronic acid and anti-ageing peptides. The result is a hybrid molecule that mimics the skin's natural architecture and supports the strengthening of 20 different collagen chains in the skin's so-called collaverse ecosystem.
New collagen combination
“Collagen forms the structural backbone of the skin and ensures its strength, resilience and youthful appearance,” emphasizes Marketing Manager Justine Cotton. Collapeptyl offers the perfect combination of three well-known active ingredients that consumers know and trust: Collagen, peptides and hyaluronic acid. “Where traditional collagen approaches reach their limits, our innovation delivers a biomimetic, effective and sensorially appealing solution,” says Jim Minicucci, Senior Vice President at Ashland.
Clinically proven efficacy
According to Ashland, studies in ex-vivo skin models show a significant increase in collagen by 44 percent and in hyaluronic acid by 57 percent. Visible improvements in expression wrinkles can be seen within four hours of using a mask with Collapeptyl. After one month of use, a significant reduction in the depth and extent of wrinkles was measured. In addition, the active ingredient gives the skin a glass-like shine and a velvety-soft feel.
Answers to global trends
Collapeptyl is designed to meet the growing demand for sustainable, multifunctional skin care: The active ingredient combines several benefits in one formulation, reducing complexity. It provides instant radiance and smoothness for the popular “glass skin” look and is based on natural ingredients and an environmentally friendly formulation. According to Ashland, Collapeptyl is globally approved and tested for different skin types. It is suitable for numerous cosmetic applications such as serums, gels, masks and creams and offers manufacturers a flexible solution for innovative products. The company is a global supplier of additives and specialty ingredients with 3200 employees and customers in more than 100 countries.
