Closure with a secret

Packaging specialist Quadpack develops pure wooden lid

100 per cent wood, zero per cent plastic - this is the formula for a new perfume cap from international packaging manufacturer Quadpack. The innovation is made possible by the patented Woodacity closure technology, which is concealed inside the perfume lid. Designed and produced in Quadpack's Spanish manufacturing plant, the mono-material lid works exactly like a plastic closure, but replaces the plastic with wood from sustainable forestry. The inner profile of the two-piece cap and ring combination is concealed behind the inner ring of the two-piece lid, creating an elegant, minimalist look. The design was conceived specifically for the luxury market, according to the company.

Solution for environmentally conscious premium brands

All maple and ash wood from which the lids are made comes from strictly controlled sources. To ensure the traceability of the raw material, Quadpack also offers FSC-certified wood. After use, the lid is easy to dispose of as there is no need to separate or dismantle it. A biodegradable water-based adhesive is also used to keep the two components together sustainably and seamlessly. With its sustainable concept, the new closure offers an ideal solution for environmentally conscious premium brands.

Product personalisation possible

Environmentally friendly options are also available for personalising the product: The customer can choose between various decorations that visually enhance the packaging without reducing its eco-balance. Customised outer shapes can also be created for a special brand image. The Woodacity Hidden will be available from the end of autumn with either a click or friction mount for various pump mechanisms. Founded in 2003, Quadpack is an international manufacturer of high-quality packaging solutions for cosmetics brands. Its production facilities and offices are located in Europe, America and the Asia-Pacific region.
