BASF expands cosmetics portfolio with slow-aging peptide
BASF has introduced Pepsensyal, a new synthetic peptide for skin care that has been proven to reduce the first signs of skin ageing. The cost-effective active ingredient is based on a biopeptide, is free from preservatives and is 99 per cent natural in origin, according to the company. Pepsensyal meets people's growing desire for healthy, slower skin ageing and is inspired by the skin's natural regeneration process. According to BASF, the active ingredient has been proven to smooth the appearance of crow's feet, increase skin density and improve the skin's micro-relief.
Crow's feet appear smoother
The effectiveness of Pepsensyal was proven in a clinical study with 32 test subjects aged between 44 and 64. After just 14 days, crow's feet appeared smoother and roughness and roughness depth decreased, reports BASF. In addition, the peptide was shown to regenerate the skin from the inside out: After 28 days, the skin was redensified. These results confirm that Pepsensyal effectively supports the skin's regeneration processes and slows down the visible signs of skin ageing.
Trend towards healthy ageing
According to BASF, the peptide thus provides an answer to the slow ageing trend in society: instead of fighting the natural ageing process, consumers are striving for healthy ageing and are focussing on a holistic, preventative approach to skin care. Pepsensyal adds a cost-effective variant to the peptide portfolio of BASF's Care Chemicals division. The peptide is part of BASF's approach to more holistic skin care.
